Transform your grill. Learn how to make traditional Turkish Kebabs in this private virtual cooking class with a chef, live from Turkey
Welcome to The Chef & The Dish cooking class we believe has the oldest of all origins. Kebabs. The earliest mention of Kebabs was in the year 800 AD. Derived from the Arabic word "kabāb" which translates to "roasted meat" this concept is one of the oldest in mankind. Skip the obvious cavemen, even Homer’s Iliad, written in 800 BC, mentions meat roasted on skewers. It's believed the first modern day kebabs were made of lamb, but while that is up for debate - one thing holds very true - Kebab making is an art in Turkey. Ancient cities throughout the country are filled with the smells and sounds of kebabs sizzling by nearby bazaar vendors. Different cities have their different versions of kebabs, all equally delicious. There are even Kebab Masters, who train and apprentice for years, learning the art of the trade.
In this cooking class, Chef Asli, will video call into your home, live from her kitchen in Turkey. Together you'll make this traditional Turkish kebabs, a staple tomato sauce dressing, Bulgur Pilaf and Shepherd's Salad. This Turkish cooking class isn't to be missed.
*Please note, these kebabs are made in the oven, but you may request to make them outdoors on the grill
