Calling all Vegetable lovers! Learn how to make Vegetarian Paella and Eggplant Ratatouille in a private virtual cooking experience with a chef, live from Spain

Paella, vegetarian style! Spain's national dish is not only delicious, it's absolutely stunning to look at. Originating in Valencia, Spain - Paella is one of the oldest modern recipes. The specifics of what make paella can be hotly contested, but this vegetarian paella is one of the newer versions found in the country. One thing remains constant - Paella is a rice dish first.

In your private online cooking class, you'll make a Vegetarian Paella filled with a variety of beans, peppers, artichokes, asparagus and cauliflower. To round out your meal, you'll also make a hearty Ajo de Berenjena, a garlicky eggplant ratatouille that will add a new dish into your repertoire to enjoy when eggplant is abundant in the summer and fall months.  Once your class is over, you'll say goodbye to your chef and have a beautiful meal to enjoy at home.

Important: A Paella Pan is required equipment to make this dish the traditional way and enjoy this class to its fullest. If you don't have one, we highly recommend purchasing one for your class. Our Kitchen Assistants will help assist you with finding the best pan for your experience. If you choose to not use a Paella Pan, your class will be modified to make a fabulous Spanish Rice & Vegetables.

20 minute Kitchen Prep Session with a Personal Kitchen Assistant who will get you ready! Includes teaching about ingredients and answering any questions you have as you get ready for your private cooking experience

2-1/2 hour Private Cooking Class via Skype with a highly accomplished global chef who lives where the recipe originated. Perfect for stay home date nights!

Ben has worked in the culinary arts in New York, London, Madrid and San Sebastian over the past 25 years and honed his skills working a variety of different restaurants.

After attending culinary school at El Txoko del Gourmet, in San Sebastian, he went on to have apprenticeships and training at different restaurants in the region-- Spainas Casa Nicolasa and Casa Urbano. After finishing cooking school, his innate curiosity led him to start traveling around the world to learn about different cultures and food traditions.

His first stop was London, England. London opened his mind to many diverse cooking influences from European to Asian cuisines.  He spent five years working in highly regarded restaurants and hotels, including Lauceston Place, Konditor&Cook and the Harrington Hall Hotel. His second stop was New York where he joined Ibuco NYC as a sous chef.

After traveling and working abroad for seven years, he returned to San Sebastian, where he continued working in different restaurants until he became a partner and co-owner of Don Vito Cafe/Restaurant, an 80-seat popular spot in the heart of San Sebastian´s old town.

Ben soon began teaching at San Sebastian Food Company a cooking school for tourists in San Sebastian. He quickly became head chef/head teacher and discovered a new passion for meeting new people from all over the world and teaching them about Spanish food.

He now owns his own cooking experience, CHEFBENSANSEBASTIAN, which he runs with his wife, Maria.

Cooking with Ben is an introduction to the Basque/Spanish food culture. His motivation is to share, enjoy, and cook together, which will have you wanting to return for more. You will enjoy a wide variety of wholesome, ethically-raised food. He sources the freshest ingredients of the season.  Now, he can't wait to go into your home to teach you about his beautiful Spanish traditions. The information sheets that came prior to the class were extremely helpful. They prepared me fully ahead of cooking. Chef Ben from Spain was amazing! He taught us a bit about San Sebastián and shared many cooking tips and tricks throughout. He was engaging and a really great teacher! Highly recommend

Chef Ben was amazing. Better than I even imagined. We did the tapas class and it was so much fun. The food was fantastic and it was so nice talking with Chef Ben and learning from him about Spanish cooking and San Sebastián. He made the whole experience fun and delicious. I will make it to Spain one day to thank him in person. Can’t recommend this experience more! Thank you Chef Ben!

We highly recommend Chef Ben and his Basque cooking class!!! We made several Basque pintxos from scratch. Chef Ben was great company and a great teacher - fun, patient, and super informative about the origin of the dishes we were making and how important they are to Basque culture. The food was so delicious. We can't wait to visit him in San Sebastian some day!!
